The Comunità Montana Parco Alto Garda Bresciano is the entity responsible for managing the Park.
The Parco Alto Garda Bresciano (Upper Garda Park) covers all the territory of the Comunità Montana including the nine municipalities from Salò to Limone.
As the main planning authority for the Upper Garda area, the Park’s primary aim is to study new approaches in order to balance the increasing human population with nature conservation.
The Park’s interior, most of which is mountainous, includes the over 11,000 hectares of the Gardesana Occidentale forest, Lombardy’s biggest state-owned forest.
Located almost entirely above 600m altitude, it has a wide variety of forest formations which are managed by the Azienda Regionale delle Foreste (Regional Forest Authority), which set up this Centre, whose aim is to guarantee a balance in the Upper Garda region’s ecosystems.
